Signal is going "Green" with the new and improved Handpainted OG Series. Handpainted topsheets reduce our use of toxic screen printing processes. New for 08/09, we’re introducing the ‘Flotsam & Jetsam Rescue Project’— utilizing discarded base materials that have been recycled and reconstituted for new manufacture. In the US we are held to higher environmental standards for manufacturing than elsewhere in the world. Accordingly, our Huntington Beach-built snowboards are more attractive and responsible from an environmental standpoint. We follow all Federal EPA standards and State regulations very closely. As well, we’ve gone a step further by implementing a rigid set of internal guidelines intended to make our factory a haven for green practices like mandatory recycling and energy efficiency. Many of the materials used in Signal construction come from the US: wood, plastics, steel edges, and epoxy resin are a few homegrown staples. This allows easier quality control, cuts lead times, and contrasts the current industry trend toward outsourcing Chinese labor and using toxic clear-coated top sheets. Bringing these processes back home also allows us to reduce our carbon footprint significantly by reducing the amount of shipping we do.
